OpenApps Polls

Free alternative to Slido and Mentimeter

Live polls and audience Q&A. Free, with no caps.

Ask your meeting, class or audience a question and watch the answers arrive on your screen. People join with a 6-digit code or a QR code, on any phone, with no app and no account.

  • Unlimited participants, polls and votes
  • Multiple choice, word cloud, rating, open text, ranking
  • Q&A with upvotes and moderation, CSV export

Joining an event?

Type the code on the presenter's screen.

Running one?

Name it, then add polls. No sign-up.

How it works

  1. Make an event

Give it a name and add your polls. They stay hidden from the audience until you open them. Reorder them any time.

  2. Show the code

Open present mode on the screen you share. The join code and a QR code stay in the corner, so latecomers can join any time.

  3. Watch answers arrive

Move through your polls with the arrow keys or a clicker. Press R to reveal results. Take questions, then export everything as CSV.

Everything you need in the room

  • Multiple choiceOne answer or several, shown as live bars.
  • Word cloudShort answers grow with every mention, drawn on your screen.

  • Open textFree answers, shown as cards, newest first.
  • RankingPeople put options in order; you see the group's order.
  • Audience Q&AQuestions with upvotes and optional names. Approve, hide or mark answered.
  • Present modeFull screen, large results, keyboard and clicker control.
  • CSV exportEvery poll's results and every question, for Excel or Sheets.

Free, with no participant cap

Free plans of live polling tools stop at a small number of people or polls, usually right in the middle of your talk. Polls is free because it costs almost nothing to run: each vote is one small write, and OpenApps pays for it.

Figures as reported in 2026; plans change, so check their sites. Slido's paid prices come from third-party trackers because its own pricing page did not load for us. Mentimeter's pricing page also mentions one session a month with unlimited participants, and its free plan is reported to leave out results export. What Polls does not do: quizzes with scores and leaderboards, slide decks, or PowerPoint add-ins.

For AI assistants

Your assistant can prepare the meeting.

Polls has a public API with no key and no account. An assistant can create an event with all its polls in one call and hand you the join code, the audience link and your admin link. Afterwards it can read the results back to you.

Creating an event returns an owner key. Keep it private: it reads every answer. Full reference: llms.txt and openapi.json.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to Slido?
Yes. Polls is free live polls and audience Q&A with no cap on participants or polls, no ads and no sign-up. People join with a 6-digit code or a QR code, and you show live results in present mode. It does not do quizzes with scores or PowerPoint add-ins.
Is Polls really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan, no ads and no tracking. Each vote is one small write, and OpenApps pays for it.
Is there a limit on participants or polls?
No. Polls has no cap on participants, polls, votes or questions. As reported in 2026, Slido's free plan allows up to 100 participants and 3 polls per event, and Mentimeter's free plan 50 participants a month.
Does my audience need an app or an account?
No. They open polls-free.openapps.xyz on any phone or laptop and type the 6-digit code, or scan the QR code on your screen. You do not need an account either: your browser keeps your events, and an admin link lets you run an event from any device.
How does one vote per person work?
Each phone or browser gets one vote per poll, and the data rules refuse a second one. You choose whether people can change their answer while a poll is open. Someone who clears their browser or uses a second device can vote again, so do not use Polls for elections or anything that needs verified voters.
Can I moderate the Q&A?
Yes. Turn on approval and new questions wait until you approve them. You can also hide questions and mark them answered. People upvote questions, one upvote each, so the most wanted ones rise to the top.
Can I export the results?
Yes. Download every poll's results and every audience question as CSV files that open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
Does it work with PowerPoint, Google Slides, Zoom or Teams?
There is no PowerPoint or Google Slides add-in. Open present mode in its own browser window and switch to it during your talk, or share that window in Zoom, Google Meet or Teams. Arrow keys and most presentation clickers move between polls.
Can my AI assistant set up the polls?
Yes. Polls has a public API with no key. An assistant preparing your meeting can create the event with all its polls in one call and hand you the join code, the audience link and your admin link, then read the results back later. See llms.txt.
